Genticorum are fast becoming one of the most sought-after proponents of Quebecois musical culture. This energetic trio features the dynamic wooden- flute of Alexandre De Grosbois-Garand, the lively fiddle playing of Pascal Gemme and the joie de vivre of Yann Falquet, who offers up guitar, jews harp and more. Together this trio offers a variety of traditional song, fiddle tunes and more with fantastic vocal harmonies, foot percussion and intricate instrumental work of the finest quality.
Laura Risk began playing Scottish fiddle music as a teenager. Her love of traditional fiddling has led her into a rich journey of performing and teaching the beautifully diverse repertoires of Scotland, Cape Breton and Quebec, where she now lives. Laura tours extensively as a soloist and as a member of numerous bands and has taught at numerous fiddle camps and at Wellesley College. She has many recordings, including The Merry Making a recent recording featuring Celtic music from New England, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Scotland and Ireland.
Ken Kolodner is known for his expressive and improvisational style and for his creative back-up playing on the hammered dulcimer. He has toured extensively solo and with the bands Helicon and Greenfire, in addition to teaching at many festivals. He has numerous well-received recordings with both ensembles to his credit as well as a new solo recording, "Journey to the Heartland". He plays and teaches Old-time Fiddle and is a tireless jammer at retreats and camps.
Kieran Jordan began studying dance at an early age and was performing professionally from age 16. With more than 25 years of experience as a performer and teacher, she combines skills of modern dance with traditional Irish styles and other forms of percussive dance. She has an active studio in her current home in Boston and tours internationally with a variety of musicians and bands including with Laura Risk and Paddy League in the trio Triptych.
Robin Bullock is a prolific composer, highly respected instructor and a virtuoso performer on 6 and 12 string guitars, mandolin, cittern and piano. A member of both Helicon and Greenfire with fellow staff members Ken Kolodner and Laura Risk with whom he has made several award-winning recordings, he also has seven critically-acclaimed solo CD's and several collaborative projects. Although he tours extensively in the US, he currently lives in Tripleval, France.
Cleek Shrey (fiddle) is a gifted performer and teacher of Irish fiddling. He was mentored by Brendan Mulvihill, and has spent time digesting and interpreting the music of Michael Coleman, Lad O'Beirne, Andy McGann and Paddy Reynolds. He performs regularly with his trio, including Baltimore musicians Sean McComiskey on accordian, and pianist Matt Mulqueen and with pianist Donna Long.. He appears on a forthcoming release by Cork fiddler John Daly and Irish piano & fiddle legend Josephine Keegan. Cleek teaches teaches a regular group fiddle class and also offers private instruction on fiddle and piano accompaniment at the Blue Ridge Irish Music School and has been on staff at the Catskills Irish Arts Week and Irish Week at the Augusta Heritage Center.
